Berhampur: Buoyed by Odisha’s industry-friendly investment and tourism policies, the hotel and hospitality sector is all set to take-off to new heights in Gopalpur – the next generation tourism destination in Ganjam district. The beach town of Gopalpur-on-Sea, which has a great legacy of being a perfect tourist destination since the British era, has been able to carve for itself a unique place in the tourism map of India due to its long pristine beaches and the clean and green surroundings. With the proactive steps taken up by the Government of Odisha under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the hospitality sector in Gopalpur is accelerating and is attracting tourists from across the country in a big way today.
After Puri and Konark, the significance of Gopalpur in the field of tourism is increasing day by day. In the days to come, there is no doubt that the beach town will occupy a special place for tourists. As part of the 16th phase of inauguration and ground-breaking program for 19 projects in the state, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has laid the foundation stone for two major luxury five-star resort facility projects in Gopalpur through video conferencing.
Luxurio Assets Private Limited will invest Rs 150 crore to develop a modern five-star hotel over 5 acres land. The project is likely to be completed over the next two years and will generate considerable local employment. The second project belongs to the famous Mayfair Hotels & Resorts Ltd which is all set to expand its existing resort facility in Gopalpur. The Mayfair Palm Beach Resort expansion will create employment opportunities for more than 120 persons against an investment of Rs 85 crore.
Luxurio Assets Private Limited has decided to develop the project in Gopalpur as the tourists give much preference to Gopalpur because of its natural beauty and enchanting beach. The project will create director and indirect employment for nearly 500 persons in the locality, as per reports.
DN Group Chairman Jagadish Prasad Naik expressed his happiness that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone for such a vital project. The proposed five-star hotel will be developed through collaborations with national and international entities.
Speaking on the development, Ganjam Collector Dibya Jyoti Parida has said that the big investment in a tourism destination like Gopalpur is a matter of happiness and it will help a lot in the field of tourism. The district administration will provide all necessary support for the project, he added.
