Keonjhar: Former Supreme Court Judge and Odisha Mineral Bearing Areas Development Corporation’s (OMBADC) Oversight Authority Justice Anang Kumar Patnaik is on a three-day visit to Keonjhar to take stock of the progress of works of various developmental initiatives in the district.
Justice AK Patnaik, on his first day, visited 5T Transformed High School at Ramchandrapur, Ghasipura. He expressed his happiness with the use of technology and learning aid for imparting education.
He visited the ongoing work site of Anandapur Indoor stadium. He was happy with plan and progress where such a facility is provided across the district. Next, he visited piped drinking water project for 19 villages in Hatadihi. Later, he interacted with the community and oversaw the works under ‘Ama Jungle Yojana’. He enquired with the community for understanding the possible income generating activities and advised to engage in more diversified activities.
He also visited Mother and Child centre at Ghatgaon where he interacted with the CDMO and enquired about the services being extended for the public. He stressed on improving the overall scenario of mother and child health care in Odisha. He also went to the Maternal& Child Healthbuilding (MCH-30bedded) at Ghatagaon block where he advised CDMO and other officials on utility being extended for public.
On second day of his visit, Justice Patnaik visited Krushi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) at Keonjhar and expressed his happiness about the Agri Livelihoods Demo-cum-Service provisions units, Capacity building and first order Agri processing units. Later he interacted with farmers attending skill development sessions at KVK. Expected benefits of KVK include training 1000 farmers through 77 skill development sessions across 13 blocks and 4 districts.
Later Justice Patnaik visited Mushroom Cultivation Unit at Sanaamuni Keonjhar and inspected beds of Paddy Straw Mushrooms and Dhingri Mushroom prepared by 2 SHGs. While interacting with SHGs, GPLF and federation, he inquired about the income generated through this livelihood and Market facilities for Mushrooms
He reviewed the Augmentation of Water Supply projects in Keonjhar District at Champua NAC, Keonjharwhere he inspected intake well-4MLD, Distribution Network- 7.4 KM, Water treatment plant- 4MLD and underground Reservoir- 1.5 Lakh Ltr. capacity.
Justice Patnaik visited Basudevpur SSD Girls High School in Champua Block and inspected educational Infrastructure development of Library Room and Dining Hall in the school.
He also visited Checkdam at Sialijoda, Joda Block and the agriculture activities supported by the Checkdam. He appreciated the intervention which has helped people to shift from Mining Activities to Horticulture activities. He further advised district officials to take up similar projects with maximum impact for the benefit of people.
Justice Patnaik visited Goat Rearing Unit at Sarupatala, Jhumpura Block and interacted with the farmers inquiring about their benefits being given to them by Department. He further inquired about the vision and way froward of the Project.
The CEO of OMBADC G Rajesh, Officials on Special Duty (OSDs) Shaikh Naimuddin and Dwipayan Patnaik, General Manager OMBADC (Administration) Sudhakar Burgi, General Manager (Operation) Jayant Kumar Dash, Consultant Partha Sarathi Mohanty and Team Leader (PMU) Shri Ambuj Prasad accompanied Justice AK Patnaik during the visit.
District Magistrate & Collector Keonjhar Ashish Thakare, CDO cum EO Zilla Parishad, Keonjhar Bishnu Prasad Acharya and other senior officials of the district were present on the occasion.
