Bargarh: The Padampur by-election held yesterday has created a record of highest voter turnout. Yesterday’s polling saw 81.29 percent voters casting their votes. This is higher that the last elections held in 2019 when the turnout was 79 percent. Sources from the Returning Officer’s office have said that as many as 209309 voters have cast their votes yesterday. Serpentine queues were seen inside many polling booths yesterday even after 4 PM.
The by-poll was peaceful and there were no untoward incidents from anywhere. Speaking to media yesterday, CEO Sushil Lohani had said “There was no report of any untoward incident in the entire Padampur Assembly constituency during the voting process.”
Counting of votes will be held on 8th December for which all arrangements have been complete.
