Puri: The construction of chariots for Lord Jagannath’s annual Rath Yatra began in the pilgrim city of Puri on the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya on Sunday.
The servitors received ‘Agyan Mala’ (consent garland of Mahaprabhu) marking the beginning of construction of chariots for the grand festival.
Before the beginning of the construction work of the chariots, special rituals were performed at the Ratha Khala on the Bada Danda.
The world-famous Rath Yatra of the holy Trinity will start from June 20.
