Puri: The Sri Jagannath Temple Administration today opened today the Paschima Dwara or the West Gate of Srimandira for the entry of local people from Puri. The decision was taken in view of the large number of devotees coming for the darshan of the deities. As per reports, the Paschima Dwara will be open for the local residents of Puri from today and they have to show their identity proof for the purpose.
It is worth mentioning here that, before Covid oandemic, the four gates of Srimandira used to be opened for the devotees, but the administration decided to allow entry through the Singhadwara due to the pandemic. A number of people and civil cociety organizations demanded that the four gates be opened for the devotees as the pandemic is over and the number of devotees has also increased manifold. Speaking to media, Puri Sub-Collector Bhabataran Sahu has said that the administration will take a decision on the opening up of the two other gates for entry once the ongoing works is complete there.
