Puri: With the holy Maha Panchuka Brata beginning from today, lakhs of people are thronging to Puri to have darshan of the deities at the Lord Jagannath Temple. The last five days of the Kartika month are celebrated with much fervor. During these five days, devotees worship Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Narayan.
Keeping in view the huge rush of devotees to Puri, the district administration has made elaborate arrangements. While about forty platoons of police have been engaged in crowd management, the whole Bada Danda area has been made vendors free. The traffic police has also restricted vehicle movement in the important roads and junctions leading to the temple. The district administration has also made special arrangements for helping the elderly and specially abled to have easy darshan of the deities. Special arrangements have also been made for providing drinking water to the devotees. Medical teams, ambulances have also been kept ready to cater to any untoward incident.
