Rayagada: The Odisha Government has suspended three engineers of Rural Works Division, Rayagada in connection with the collapse of an under-construction culvert in Uparasaja village under Kalyansingpur block in Rayagada district.
Executive engineer Pradeep Kumar Mohanty, junior engineer Rajesh Kumar Mandal, assistant executive engineer Muduli Venkat Raman have been suspended for the mishap that killed five persons including four children on Monday.
During the period of suspension, the headquarters of the officials will be at the office of the Chief Construction Engineer, Rural Works Circle, Sunadeba. they shall not leave the headquarters without prior permission of the Chief Engineer, as per an official order.
A case has been registered against the concerned contractor at the Kalyansinghpur police station.
Earlier, the State Government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to the next kin of the decease.
