Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has called upon all to reaffirm their commitment to further strengthen Odisha’s famed disaster preparedness and resilient infrastructure to protect every precious life from the vagaries of nature. Odisha is observing the Disaster Preparedness Day and National Day for Disaster Reduction today to mark the anniversary of the 1999 Super Cyclone that devastated many places and took more than ten thousand lives. After the 1999 Super Cyclone, Odisha has scripted a success story that transformed the state into the flag bearer of disaster preparedness under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
