Bhubaneswar: A day after Indira Gandhi International Airport at New Delhi was put on high alert, security at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar has also been ramped up. This comes after the IGI Airport received a bomb threat allegedly from Al Qaeda. In Bhubaneswar, security has been beefed up and a red alert has been issued which will be in force till 20th of this month. This also coincides with the Independence Day Celebrations to be held on 15th August. The Central Industrial Security Force, which mans the BPIA, has tightened the security measures and increased surveillance activities. No persons other than the passengers and airport employees are being allowed to enter into the Airport.
Reacting to the queries, BPIA Director Pravat Ranjan Beuria has said that the security has been beefed up ahead of the Independence Day. Entry with visitor passes has been suspended for the time being and three layered security system is in place in the airport.
