Bhubaneswar: The Special Judge Vigilance, Bolangir on Monday awarded a retired superintendent of Odisha Warehousing Corporation, Malmunda in Bolangir district one year rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 200000 following his conviction in disproportionate assets case.
The retired superintendent has been identified as Ananda Chandra Behera.
Behera, who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case vide Special Judge, Vigilance Bolangir TR No.104/2007 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) of PC Act, 1988 for possession of disproportionate assets, was convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance Bolangir.
He has been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 year and to pay fine of Rs.2,00,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for 2 months more for the commission of offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) of PC Act, 1988.
Odisha Vigilance said that it will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Behera following his conviction.
