Retired VLW Convicted in Bribery Case, Sentenced to 2 Yrs Imprisonment  

Jajpur: A retired VLW in Jajpur district was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and fine of Rs.10,000 in a bribery case.

Ashok Kumar Nayak, Ex-VLW (Retired), Kankadapal GP, Sukinda Block, who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Cuttack Vigilance PS Case for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant for submitting verification report in his favour for allotment of house under “Mo Kudia” yojana, was convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.

He has been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and fine of Rs.10,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 6 months more for the offence U/s 13(2) / 7 of P.C. Act, 1988.

Odisha Vigilance said that it will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Ashok Kumar Nayak.
