Chatrapur: Rituals were performed for the foundation celebration of Maa Taratarini temple on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya on Tuesday.
The much-awaited foundation celebration of redesigned Taratarini temple is scheduled to begin from May 15 and would continue till May 20.
On the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya, the rituals of Maa Taratarini, the presiding deity of Ganjam, were performed with full gaiety and religious fervor.
The first invitation was given to Maa Taratarini in the presence of chief servitor Bapuji Rana, sevyats, ADM Priyaranjan Prusty and others.
On the occasion, as many 108 kalashas (sacred pots) were set up inside the temple premises.
Last month, the Ganjam administration at an important meeting chaired by district Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange, had held elaborate discussions for the smooth conduct of the foundation celebration of the new look Taratarini temple.
The Taratarini temple, which is one of the oldest and famous pilgrimage centres in Odisha, has gone massive transformation with the implementation of the various development projects by the State Government.
