Sambalpur: The Odisha police have busted an interstate gang of diesel thieves in Sambalpur district on Tuesday and arrested seven of its members.
The gang involved in diesel theft from IOCL oil pipeline stretching from Paradip to Ranchi via Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh, the police said.
The gang was detected in connection with a case reported under Katarbaga PS of Sambalpur district. Its members are involved in over 23 such oil theft cases in different districts spanning from 2018 to 2022, the police added.
This is the first time any of these gang members are arrested in these oil theft cases.
The police also seized three trucks, wielding machine and generator among others from the thieves.
