Sambalpur: Suspension Of Internet Services Extended By 24 Hours, Six More Arrested

Sambalpur: The suspension of internet services in Sambalpur that was imposed in view of the group clashes during Hanuman Jayanti has been extended by another 24 hours. The suspension of internet services will now be till 10 am on 18th April. The decision was taken to prevent misuse of social media platform. On the other hand, the district administration has eased the curfew imposed in Sambalpur town areas by few more hours. The Curfew has been eased from 7. 30 am to 11. 30 am and from 3. 30 pm to 6 pm in the evening.

Police DG Sunil Bansal, Additional Chief Secretary Satyabrata Sahu and other senior officials are on the ground and overseeing the efforts to bring normalcy to the town. There have been no untoward incidents in the last 48 hours. The Sambalpur police is contemplating strict action against the perpetrators of violence. Till now, more than 80 persons have been arrested in connection with the incident.
