Bhubaneswar: A school bus in Bhubaneswar was slapped with fine of Rs 2.33 lakh for violating motor vehicle (MV) norms.
The Transport Department officials fined the school bus at Damana square here on the second day of the week-long special drive by the Department to check the buses and other light vehicles engaged in transporting school students in the State.
As per reports, the school bus, bearing registration number OR 02 BN 4550, was fined Rs 2,33,234 on charges of flouting motor vehicle norms.
The vehicle had not paid MV tax for a long time. It was also running without permit and did not have pollution as well as insurance certificates. The vehicle was seized by the Transport Department, reports added.
