Bhubaneswar: A school head master was nabbed by the Vigilance sleuths for taking Rs 40,000 bribe from a contractor through bank deposit for clearing bills of construction of new school building in Odisha’s Kalahandi district.
The headmaster has been identified Drona Kumar Tandi of Trishakti High School, Makaraguda in Kegaon PS under Golamunda Block.
Tandi has directed the contractor to deposit the bribe amount of Rs. 40,000 by giving his account number. After depositing the amount, the complaint handed over the counter foil of deposit slip of Rs.40,000 to the Head Master.
On getting the information, when the Vigilance Officials reached the school, Tandi swallowed the deposit slip on seeing the Vigilance team. At the same time, on verification of the cell phone of Head Master, a message was found to have been received in his cell phone regarding credit of Rs. 40,000 deposited in shape of cash by the contractor.
Following the successful trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Tandi from DA angle.
In this connection, Koraput Vigilance P.S Case No. 07 Dt. 20.03.2024 U/s 7 P.C (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the accused head master.
