Rourkela: A school headmaster in Odisha’s Sundargarh district was suspended for allegedly selling textbooks to a scrap dealer.
Chandra Charan Singh, the headmaster of Sargigarh UP School under Koida block, faced strong action from the authorities for selling thousands of textbooks to a scrap dealer, according to reports.
The bizarre incident came to the notice of the people after they found a pickup van loaded with textbooks on April 19.
The vehicle had reportedly come to school on April 19. It had developed some mechanical problems before leaving.
Then the local people came forward to help the driver to restart the vehicle. They found the vehicle loaded with huge number of books and got to know that the books were being sold to a scrap dealer, as per reports.
Singh allegedly sold over 3,000 textbooks of 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22 academic sessions to a scrap dealer.
On the order of District Education Officer (DEO), the BEO placed the Headmaster under suspension, reports added.
