Schools, Colleges to Reopen for Students in Odisha from Feb. 7

Bhubaneswar: The physical classes would resume for students of class VIII and above from February 7, announced Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra on Thursday.

The Chief Secretary made this big announcement during a media briefing on COVID-19 management in the State.

All schools, colleges and universities in the State will reopen for physical classes from February 7, the Chief Secretary said.

The educational institutions have been closed since the first week of January due to the third wave of COVID and Omicron.

Now the State has been witnessing drop in COVID cases. There were demands from various quarters for reopening of schools and colleges. The schools reopen for the Class VIII and above from February 7.

Physical classes of KG to Standard-VII students will resume from Feb 14, the Chief Secretary said.

The classes will be held in accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines. A fresh SOP will be issued in this regard, he added.
