SEC Holds Meeting with Collectors to Discuss Poll Preparedness

Bhubaneswar: State Election Commissioner Aditya Prasad Padhi today held a meeting with district Collectors to discuss about the preparedness for the upcoming Panchayat and Urban Local Body (ULB) elections in Odisha.

Talking to the media, the SEC said that the elections will be held for 200 Zilla Parishad, 1,669 Sarpanch, 1,669 Samiti member and 22,379 Ward Member posts in 71 blocks of all the 30 districts in the first phase.

As many as 66,51 lakh votes are expected to exercise their franchise in first phase of the elections, he said.
The Commission has identified the sensitive booths and additional police personnel will be deployed to ensure a smooth election.

Videography will be done in sensitive polling booths. CCTVs will be installed in strong rooms and during counting of votes, he said.

According to the fresh guidelines, no outsider or political leader will be allowed to remain present in poll-bound areas after completion of campaign, the SEC while adding that the outsiders have been directed to vacate poll-bound areas by the evening of February 14.
