Security Forces Seize Huge Cache of Maoist Arms, Explosives in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: The security forces have seized a huge cache of arms, explosives and other items used by the Maoists during a combing operation in Odisha’s Malkangiri district.

On the basis of specific information received, an intensive search and area domination was conducted by Malkangiri Police on October 19 in the general area of Tulsi Reserve forest under Mathili PS jurisdiction bordering to Odisha-Chhattisgarh, resulting in uncovering of one major Maoist dump near jungle area of village Katwapadar under Kartanpalli G.P.

On October 21, this has led to recovery and seizure of huge quantity of IEDs, Arms, Laptop/Notebook, Multimeter, Medicines including oral contraceptives which shows exploitative nature of cadres towards females and other incriminating articles.

It is suspected that these articles were intended to making target civilians and security forces.

The recovered items include two country made guns, six IEDs, one multimeter with cord, 20 mtr electric wire (flexible), one laptop, Maoist dress, one aluminium utensil, one mobile charging cord, one umbrella, Maoist literatures and medicines.

This is a major jolt to the subversive and anti-national design of Maoists in this area, the police said.

The police suspect that these explosives along with other articles belongs to the Maoists cadres of DKSZC and they were intended to be used against innocent civilians and security forces to carry out their subversive, anti-national activities. In the wake of recovery, further combing and search operations are going on in the area.
