Bhubaneswar: The southwest monsoon arrived in Odisha on Saturday and covered some parts of Malkangiri, informed the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
The monsoon has made an early arrival in the state this time as per the forecast made by the IMD earlier.
Monsoon normally makes an onset over southern parts of Odisha around June 12 and this time it has hit the state around four days in advance.
The northern limit of the monsoon now passes through Baramati, Nizamabad, Sukma, Malkangiri, and Vizianagaram.
The conditions are favourable for further advancement of the monsoon into other parts of the state in the next few days, the IMD stated.
