SRC Asks Collectors to Ensure Strict Vigilance to Check Crowds in Public Places

Bhubaneswar: Special Relief Commissioner & Additional Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena urged the Collectors, SPs, Commissionerate of Police and Municipal Commissioners to mount strict vigilance on crowds and gatherings in public places from December 31 to January 2, 2022.

In a letter, the SRC stated that during these three days, gatherings at public places is very likely. While the State Government has already imposed restrictions for these days, for containment of COVID-19, the local administration and police has been asked to keep a strict vigil.

Random checks at malls, picnic spots, shopping complexes, hotels, clubs, restaurants, parks, convention halls, and kalyan mandaps, should be ensured, to check crowding, the letter read.

Strict enforcement of COVID-19 safety protocols such as masks, social distancing, and any additional restrictions as per neceessity needs to be imposed. In case of any violation of the COVID protocols, heavy penalty may be imposed, the SRC said.
