SS Ganjam Staff Members Condemn Attack on DEO, Demand Stringent Action against Attackers 

Chatrapur: The staff members of District Project Coordinator, Samagra Shiksha (SS) Ganjam have strongly condemned the attack on District Education Officer (DEO) Ganjam Binita Senapati and sought stringent action against the attackers.

In a memorandum submitted to the Ganjam Collector-cum SS Chairman and Revenue Divisional Commissioner (SD), Berhampur, the SS Ganjam staffs demanded strong action against teachers couple – Shantilata Sahu, Assistant Teacher, Girls High School , Bellaguntha and her husband Suman Sahu – who attacked the DEO inside her office premises during office hours on Tuesday.

On April 26 at around 2.25 pm when the DEO was leaving office for lunch, Shantilata Sahu allegedly obstructed her way demanding salary without performing duty. When the argument was going on, Shantilata’s husband rushed towards the DEO and attacked her brutally. Senapati was injured and was taken to MKCG Medical College Hospital, Berhampur for treatment.

The Sub-Collector, Berhampur and SDPO, Berhampur reached the office and enquired about the incident. The CCTV footage of the entire incident has been captured and handed over to the Police.

The SS Ganjam staffs alleged that Shantilata Sahu and Suman Sahu have been sitting on dharana since December 2021 demanding salary without performing duty.

Shantilata has been requested several times to join the school and perform duty, so that the release of her salary will be considered but in vain, they said in the memorandum.

The SS staffs have demanded stringent action against Suman Sahu and. Shantilata Sahu. They also requested the administration to take necessary steps for safety and security of employees at work place.
