Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday arrested a Senior Laboratory Technician of Tarva CHC in Subarnapur district for allegedly taking bribe from a complainant for a laboratory medical test report of the complaint and other poor villagers.
The lab technician has been identified as Akshaya Kumar Pattnaik.
Pattnaik has been apprehended by Vigilance sleuths while taking bribe Rs.9,000 from a compliant for lab medical test reports of the complaint and 59 other poor villagers @ Rs 150 per person.
The medical tests are done free of cost in the CHCs on behalf of the Govt. However, allegations that Pattnaik was habitually demanding money for such tests were received, the Vigilance said.
In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance has registered a case against the accused Pattnaik and the investigation is in progress.
