Bhubaneswar: In a remarkable journey of empowerment, Nilendri Das, the daughter of farmer Kalia Das from Beguniapada, Ganjam has embarked on a skilled path at Govt. ITI Berhampur with the invaluable support of Sudakshya. Admitted in the Electrician trade, she draws inspiration from her elder sister Sonali, who excelled in the Turner trade in 2021.
Nilendri’s aspirations soar as she secures a coveted position in the Vertical Transportation sector at Johnson Lifts, Odanai, Tamilnadu, exemplifying the transformative power of vocational training. This shines a spotlight on the profound impact of ‘Sudakshya’, a scheme dedicated to fostering girls’ enrollment in Government ITIs.
Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the inclusion of Sudakshya in polytechnics this year has further bolstered the encouragement for girl students in Odisha. This initiative has proven instrumental in transforming the landscape, nurturing inclusivity for ‘Skilled-In-Odisha,’ with a direct impact on girls’ enrolment exceeding 30% both in Govt. ITIs & Polytechnics.
Key components of the Sudakshya scheme encompass mobilization of girl students for ITI & Polytechnic admissions, financial support provided through “Maintenance Allowance” during the training period, one-time financial assistance for post- ITI & Polytechnic placement/apprenticeship training.
