Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1.95 crore to the families of 39 passengers from Odisha who died in the triple train accident in Balasore on June 2.
The financial assistance will be given from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF), according to an official release.
Among the 275 passengers died in the train accident, 39 identified so far are from Odisha. Of them, 8 persons are from Bhadrak, 2 from Jajpur, 14 from Balasore, 9 from Mayurbhanj, 2 from Khurda, 3 Cuttack and one person from Keonjhar district.
The distribution of financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh has been started for the next of kin of the deceased.
It is worth noting that the Chief Minister had earlier announced that Rs. 5 lakh will be given as assistance for the next kin of the deceased from the State.
