Two Die, Several Injured As Goods Train Derails And Rams Into Station Building At Jajpur’s Korei

Jajpur: At least two persons have died and several others injured when a goods train derailed and rammed into the station building at Korei Railway Station in Jajpur district early morning today.

Two bogies of a goods train derailed and sidetracked to waiting hall of Korei railway station of Jajpur district .

Five persons were trapped and one injured person shifted to Hospital by Jajpur Road by Fire Services personnel, as per sources.

The accident was so intense that people could hear the sound of the accident from two hundred meters away. Police, RPF, Fire department personnel and railway officials have reached the accident spot and rescue operations have started. The injured are being taken to the hospital. According to railway sources, a high level inquiry will be ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident.

Both the UP and Down Train lines in the route have been affected due to the accident and the movement of several passenger trains has been affected. Further details awaited.
