Bhubaneswar: The Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Yass lay centered 30 kilometers away from Balasore at 11 30 am today and is moving in a north-northwesternly diection. While the landfall process has started, it is expected to continue till 1 pm. Moving through Bahanaga and Remuna in Balasore, it will cross over to Mayurbhanj in the afternoon today. Heavy to very heavy rains with winds with 130 to 150 kilometer speed are expected to continue for in this areas for another three hours.
The three most affected districts of Balasore Bhadrak and Mayurbhanj are expected to receive heavy rainfall for another 12 hours. The intensity of wind and rain is slowly subsiding in Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapada districts.
