Bhubaneswar: Legendary Odia Singer, lyricist and Music composer Padamashri Prafulla Kar is no more. He passed away yesterday night following a massive cardiac arrest at Bhubaneswar. He was 83 years old.
Born in 1939, Prafulla is a well known mucic composer and singer from Odisha who worked in more than 40 films in Odia and Bangla. He was also the recipient of the Jaydev Award, the highest film related award given by the Government of Odisha. He was given the Padmashri in the year 2015. With his demise, a pal of gloom has descended on the Odia film and cultural fraternity. His last rites will be conducted at Swarga Dwara in Puri today.
