Vigilance Nabs Forest Guard, Watchman for Taking Bribe in Jharsuguda 

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Monday nabbed a lady forest guard and a watchman for allegedly taking bribe from a person in Jharsuguda district.

Jharana Sahoo, Forest Guard, Banaharpalli Beat under Bandhabahal Forest Section in Jharsuguda district and Sanjay Barik, Watchman of the same forest section, have been apprehended by the Vigilance sleuths for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.15,000 from a complainant to give permission and facilitate cutting of trees from his homestead land.

As per the direction of Forest Guard, the Watchman while receiving demanded bribe Rs 15,000 from the complainant, was nabbed by the Vigilance team. The Forest Guard was also present at the spot.

The entire bribe money has been recovered from Barik.

Following the trap simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Sahoo from DA angle.

In this connection, Rourkela Vigilance P.S. Case U/s.7 P.C. (Amendment) Act,2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against Sahoo and Barik, the Vigilance informed.
