Vote Counting to Be Held at 70 Centers in Odisha: CEO

Bhubaneswar: The counting of votes for the General and Legislative Assembly elections in Odisha will start from 8AM tomorrow.

In a press conference, State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nikunja Bihari Dhal elaborated about the preparations being made for the smooth conduct of the vote counting process.

He said that votes will be counted at 70 counting centers in the State. More than 30 rounds will be counted for eight Assembly constituencies. There will be less than 30 rounds for the remaining Assembly seats.

The Election Commission of India has appointed 124 observers to supervise the counting process in Odisha, the CEO said.

Speaking about the voter turnout, the CEO informed that compared to the 2019 elections, the voter turnout rate has increased in the 2024 elections. In 2019, the voter turnout was 73.09 percent. This time, it stands at 74.44 percent.

He said that the percentage of female voters is higher than that of male voters. This time 73.37 percent of male and 75.55 percent of female voters exercised their franchise.

About 2.5 crore voters have cast their votes in the 2024 elections in the State, he added.
