Wife Of Abhisekh Mahapatra Donates Rs 40 Lakh

Bhadrak: In an act that is bound to inspire millions of others, Mausumi Mahapatra, wife of Abhisekh Mahapatra who was airlifted to Kolkata for ECMO treatment in June last year, has donated Rs 40 Lakh for welfare of the people after her husband died. She donated Rs 30 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Rs 10 lakh to the District Red Cross Fund. She handed over the cheques to Collector Bhadrak today. The money was donated for the treatment of Abhisekh through fund raising that saw thousands of people from around the world contributing for his treatment. But his health condition deteriorated and he died on 3rd September.

Maousumi had just married Abhisekh for eight days when he caught the Covid-19 virus and his lungs were severely infected needing ECMO Treatment. He was shifted to Kolkata in an air ambulance. Mausumi along with the friends and relatives of Abhisekh had appealed for contributions to treat Abhisekh.

Speaking to media persons today, Mausumi said, she was thankful to all for their prayers for her husband and the contribution of money for his treatment. But the money could not save her husband. The remaining amount from the contributions is of no use for her and could be of great help to those who are in need. So she requested the administration to spend that money for those in need.
