Keonjhar: Physical Therapy (PT), also known as Physiotherapy, is one of the allied health professions. It is provided by Physiotherapists physical therapists who promote, maintain, or restore health through physical examination, diagnosis, management, prognosis, patient education, physical intervention, rehabilitation, disease prevention, and health promotion. Physiotherapy is treatment to restore, maintain, and make the most of a patient’s mobility, function, and well-being. Physiotherapy helps through physical rehabilitation, injury prevention, and health and fitness.
8th September 2022 is designated as ‘World Physiotherapy Day’ which was celebrated via a district level event by the Keonjhar district administration at Advanced Rehabilitation Centre (ARC), Keonjhar.
Under DMF Sakshyam, ARC Ranki Keonjhar is operational and has provided around 723 Robotic Therapy sessions, distributed around 133 Motorized Wheelchairs,120artificial limbs and has around 59 patients registered for Robotic Therapy exercises.
Keonjhar Collector cum Managing Trustee, DMF Keonjhar Ashish Thakare distributed first in Odisha 3 High End Limbs (out of the total 28registeredpatients), along with 15 Electrical Wheelchairs and 10 Artificial Limbs.
The high-end limbs are come with various unique benefits, such as carbon fiber socket which is lighter in weight and more durable, silicon liner with locking for extra comfort, no pain and risk of skin ulcers compared to normal liners, energy storing carbon foot for extra comfort during walking, provides ground reaction forceto ease in walk on uneven terrain and provides maximum stability.
The Keonjhar administration through DMF Sakshyam aspires for providing entire spectrum of rehabilitation services for enhancing the quality of life for the ‘Differently abled People’, elderly and for betterment of lives of people in Keonjhar.
