Yale, Arzan crowned champions at SAT AITA Under-14 CS 7 event

Bengaluru: Channamallikarjuna Yale completed his dream run and ended up as the singles champion in the boys’ category while the giant-killer in the girls’ category Ritika Ravi fell at the final hurdle, losing out to second seed Arzan Khorikawala in the SAT AITA U-14 Champions Series 7 tennis tournament that concluded at the Srinath Academy of Tennis courts here on Friday.

The 13-year-old Yale, who began as a qualifier, beat four seeds including fifth seed Ahil Ayaz in the title clash which he won 6-4, 6-2.

Arzan, on the other hand, was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over Ritika, who later made amends by joining hands with Isha Girish and winning the doubles title beating the top-seeded pair of Arzan Khorikawala and Saanvi Misra 7-6 (6), 6-4.

The boys’ doubles title was won by the top-ranked pair of Likith Gowda and Meer Fazal Ali, who beat the second-seeded duo of Ahil Ayaz and M Diganth in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.

Boys’ U-14 singles final: Channamallikarjuna Yale bt 5-Ahil Ayaz 6-4, 6-2.

Doubles final: 1-Likith Gowda/Meer Fazal Ali bt 2-Ahil Ayaz/M Diganth 6-3, 6-3.

Girls’ U-14 singles final: 2-Arzan Khorikawala bt Ritika Ravi 6-3, 6-3.

Doubles final: Isha Girish/Ritika Ravi bt 1-Arzan Khorikawala/Saanvi Misra 7-6 (6), 6-4.
