Ganjam: Retired Excise Superintendent Sentenced to 2 Yrs Imprisonment in DA Case

Bhubaneswar: A retired Excise Superintendent in Ganjam district has been sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment following his conviction in a disproportionate assets case.

Ashok Kumar Jena, Ex-Superintendent of Excise (Retired), Ganjam, who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case vide Special Judge, Special Court, Cuttack for possessing disproportionate assets, was convicted by Special Judge, Special Court, Cuttack.

He has been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.50,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for 6 months more for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) of PC Act, 1988.

Odisha Vigilance said that it will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Jena.
