Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal has issued an ultimatum to the center to lower the LPG gas prices by November 30 or else the party will hit the roads with mass protests. Speaking during a press conference, BJD leaders Byomkesh Ray, Pranab Balabantray and Debiranjan Tripathy have said that the Biju Janata Dal wants the center to slash LPG prices by the end of this month. The party has said that, it will mobilize public support against the Center on the issue and organize mass protests if its demands are not met. The party had organized protest rallies in front of all the three RDC Offices and block offices of the state from 22nd to 24th November demanding slashing of LPG prices.
Speaking to reporters at the press conference, the BJD leaders have said the protests organized by the party in the last three days have been successful and people on their own supported it and jointed the protests. The party thanks the people of Odisha their wholehearted support. They said, if the LPG prices are not cut by the 30th of this month, BJD will hit the roads. When the NDA government came to power in 2014, the price of LPG cylinder was just Rs 14 and today after seven years it is more than doubled to Rs 930. Despite the country facing a pandemic such as Covid-19, every month the center is increasing the price of LPG. This has not only had an impact on the common man’s budget but also on industries and traders.
