COVID-19: Odisha-born Bollywood Singer Lisa Mishra Takes Part in Lady Gaga’s ‘One World: Together at Home’ Concert for Noble Cause

Bhubaneswar: Odisha-born noted Bollywood singer Lisa Mishra pledged her support to the ‘One World: Together at Home’ virtual concert organised by Global Citizen and singer Lady Gaga in support of the World Health Organization to raise funds in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Lisa, who is famous for singing the reprise version of the song ‘Tareefan’ from Veere Di Wedding, joined the global celebrities like Elton John, Paul McCartney, Rolling Stones, Lady Gaga, Stevie Wonder, Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish for the eight hour charitable show.

Bollywood actors Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra also made special appearances.

Lisa’s song ‘Sajna Ve’ appears around 1 hour 35 minutes in the virtual concert. The song was shot at her grandparent’s house in Bhubaneswar where she is residing at present during the nationwide lockdown.

The virtual concern has reportedly raised USD 127 million for coronavirus relief.

The concert is available on Amazon Prime Video, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, and other platforms.

Born in a Berhampur Odia family, Lisa was brought up in the US after her parents shifted there. Her love for Indian music continued despite being in a cosmopolitan atmosphere.

Educated in the Massachusetts to become a Data Analyst, Lisa continued her musical and singing activities and at last caught the eyes of the Bollywood through her Instagram Postwhich transformed her life forever.

Today, with super hit songs like The Wakhra Song’ from the film ‘Judgementall Hai Kya’, reprise version of Veere Di Wedding’s ‘Tareefan’, and Chandigarh Mein song from Good Newwz have taken her to the height in Bollywood. One of her best performances was seen in ‘Let Me Love You’ by DJ Snake featuring J Bieber.

While Bollywood has become her dream destination today, she has not forgotten her origins.

According to her, “I have lived in Odisha till I was six years old and after that, I moved to the US with my parents. But I have never been away from Odisha for long since my entire extended family lives in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Berhampur. Berhampur literally lives inside me as I have a part of my childhood treasured there. And since my mother is from Puri, every year we visited Odisha, a trip to Puri was also a must in the list. I particularly miss the delicious Odia food, Jagannath temple, and my hometown.

The singer has lauded the Odisha Government’s efforts in preventing the spread of the Coronavirus.
