Bhubaneswar: Odisha-born IPS officer Jalad Kumar Tripathy has been appointed as the Director General of Police (DGP) and Head of Police Force of Tamil Nadu.
The appointment is effective from July 1, 2019.
Tripathy will succeed TK Rajendran.
The 1985-batch Punjab cadre officer was serving as the DGP of Uniformed Services Recruitment Board in Tamil Nadu.
He was also the Chennai City Police Commissioner before.
He will hold the office till 2021, reports said.
He will take charge on Sunday as the tenure of Rajendran comes to an end.
