Berhampur: The second wave of COVID pandemics has virtually brought the life to a near standstill across the country, severely disrupting the economies, healthcare systems and livelihood of the people. It has turned into a humanitarian crisis, rendering many jobless and homeless.
In this testing time, the Aska police personnel have stepped in to help the most vulnerable people, who are facing more uncertainly on their lives and livelihoods than ever. The cops have come forward to extend helping hands to the beggars, mentally-challenged persons, homeless people and needy senior citizens.
As the government is enforcing a 14-day statewide lockdown from May 5 to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the police personnel, who are the frontline COVID warriors, have put all necessary arrangements in place to help the destitute people in the Aska area.
With the help of some like-minded social activists, the Aska police have decided to provide meals two times a day to the poor and homeless people living in the streets. They have arranged door delivery of the food and other necessary items.
The police personnel will also extend all possible supports to the COVID-19 positive patients, who are undergoing treatment in home isolation. The people suffering from other diseases will also be helped by the cops.
The Aska Police have set up a 24×7 helpline (9438916721) for this purpose and urged the people to inform them if they come across the destitute people.
“It’s beyond the call of the duty to lend a helping hand to the needy in these trying times”, says Aska PS Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Prashant Kumar Sahoo.
