New Delhi: The Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm AMPHAN over central parts of South Bay of Bengal and adjoining central Bay of Bengal is expected to become a Severe Cyclonic Storm in the next 12 hours. Presently it it is laying 790 kilometers south of Paradip and 940 km south-south west of Digha.
According to the IMD, AMPHAN is very likely to intensify further during the next six hours and to move north-northeastwards and move fast across northwest Bay of Bengal and cross West Bengal – Bangladesh coasts between Digha, West Bengal and Hatiya Islands of Bangladesh in the afternoon of May 20 as a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm.
The maximum sustained wind speed while landfall will be between 155 to 165 kmph gusting to 185 kmph.
