Berhampur Thakurani Yatra to Commence from April 9 amid COVID-19 Restrictions

Berhampur: Maa Budhi Thakurani Yatra in Berhampur will commence from April 9 amid strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols.

In view of the prevailing pandemic situation, the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) has taken a slew of measures to ensure smooth conduct the festival.
The famous biennial festival will be held for seven days.

This year, the devotees would not be allowed to take part in the Ghata Parikrama or procession of the deity.

In order to prevent the mass gathering of people, restrictions under Section 144 will be imposed in the areas from main temple to temporary abode (asthayee mandap) of the Goddess.

The ritual of Godadhua (washing of feet) of Maa Thakurani and Manasika Besha have also been restricted.

Besides, the civic body has also restricted holding of cultural programmes and Kalakunja.
