Big Development: Odisha Announces Free Transportation To JEE And NEET Aspirants

Bhubaneswar: In a major relief to the thousands of JEE Main and NEET aspirants from the state, Odisha Government today announced free transportation and accommodation to all candidates who are appearing the examinations in the first week of September.

Addressing the media, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy has said that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has directed the officials to make all arrangements free of cost for the transport and accommodation of JEE Main and NEET aspirants of the state who are facing difficulties in arranging their own facilities. Accordingly, the government has already started taking steps in this regard.

The district administrations have been advised to facilitate the movement of candidates and their parents without any hindrance due to the lockdowns and shutdowns. They have also been ordered to make accommodation facilities for the candidates at the nearest ITIs to the Exam Centers.

More than 37 thousand candidates will appear for the JEE Main Examinations scheduled to be held in the first week of September. There are 26 centers in seven cities in Odisha where the candidates will sit in Examinations. The authorities have also been directed to relax the lockdown guidelines for the candidates so that they will have smooth movement between their place and the Exam Center.

Speaking during the press meet, Sanjay Singh, Principal Secretary, Skill Development and Technical Education Department, has said that candidates and their parents can move freely for the exams by just showing the admit card of the exams. The government has also ordered for opening of Nodal Centers in every district to help the students and their parents. The Candidates have to inform the nodal centers regarding their transport and accommodation requirements.
