New Delhi: In a major victory for the Tata Sons, the Supreme Court today upheld the removal of Cyrus Mistry from Chairman’s post and set aside NCLAT judgment directing Mistry’s reinstatement. Cyrus Mistry was handpicked by chairman emeritus Ratan Tata in 2012 as the Chairman of Tata Sons but subsequently he was sacked from the post in 2016.
In its order, the three judge bench of the Supreme Court led by Chief Justice AS Bobde allowed all petitions by the Tata Group and dismissed all petitions by the Mistry Group. The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal had reinstated Cyrus Mistry as the chairman of Tata Sons which the Supreme Court overturned.
