CM Naveen Approves Doubling Of One Time Incentives For Anganwadi Workers

Bhubaneswar: In a major development that will be of immense help to the thousands of Anganwadi workers engaged in the state, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved doubling of their one-time incentive.

Anganwadi Workers, who are retiring from service henceforth, will now get Rs 40,000 instead of Rs 20000 at present as their retirement benefits. Likewise, the onetime incentives for Mini Anganwadi Workers and Anganwadi Assistants have also been doubled from Rs 15000 to Rs 30000 and Rs 10000 to Rs 20000 respectively.

The revised incentives will be implemented retrospectively from January 2019. More than 1.3 lakh Anganwadi workers will be benifitted from this move. Odisha Government provides Onetime financial assistance to the various categories of Anganwadi Workers when they retire at the age of 62 years as a social security measure.

The move is immediately going to benefit 1991 Anganwadi Workers, Mini Anganwadi Workers and Helpers who have retired since 1st January 2019.

The Chief Minister also announced that if the Anganwadi Workers are admitted to any of the State-run government hospital or a hospital impanelled by the government due to illness, full paid medical leave will be allowed for them.
