Bhubaneswar: With the rise of mercury, the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) has asked the Collectors of all districts to make all preparations for the upcoming heatwave conditions.
In the letter to the Collectors, Managing Director of OSDMA, Pradeep Kumar Jena, stated that the day time maximum temperatures in interior and coastal areas indicate a very steady rise of temperature which may continue and move the India Meteorological Department to declare heatwave.
“Aware of your preoccupation in this grave situation and closure of many line departments, still I request you to immediately hold regular virtual review meetings at district, sub-divisional and block levels to put in place the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the heat action plan 2020 for all line departments. Otherwise, this natural hazard may unnecessarily compound our challenge in containing COVID-19,” Jena added.
He also asked Collectors to bring any difficulty on the matter to his notice through WhatsApp, mobile, landline or email.
