Combating COVID-19: Ganjam Launches Zero Active Case Mission

Berhampur: Further intensifying its war against coronavirus, the Ganjam district administration on Friday launched ‘Zero Active Case Mission’ to stop the spread of the virus.

The district administration hopes that the number of COVID-19 positive cases in the will drop steeply in the coming days.

The number of positive cases has dropped to less than 200 per day. The district reported 162 positive cases of COVID-19 on Friday. It is an achievement in the fight against the coronavirus. The number will drop further in the coming days, said Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange at a press briefing along with BeMC Commissioner Chakravarti Singh Rathore here on Friday.

Taking about the Zero Active Case Mission, Kulange said the aim of the mission is to reduce the spread of new infection.

The district admin has ramped up COVID-19 testing.

“We are testing over 9,000 to 10,000 samples daily”, he said.

The active cases have come down to below 2,000 for the first time in the district. Currently, there are 1935 active cases in the district. The recovery rate has improved to 87 per cent, he said.

So far, 42 COVID-19 patients have been administered plasma therapy. All are keeping well, he added.
