Bhubaneswar: With the first positive case of Coronavirus detected in Bhubaneswar, the Odisha Government on Monday postponed examinations in all schools across the State.
While the exams of students from Class I to IX across the State have been postponed, the Class XII exams will continue as per schedule.
A notification issued by the School and Mass Education said, “teachers must not attend schools but should remain available over phone for specific instructions.”
Evaluation work for class X and XII, however will continue as per schedule.
Besides, the teachers have been asked to remain alert on cell phones.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had earlier announced that all educational institutions shall remain closed till March 31, except for holding examinations.
Non-essential official gatherings such as seminars, workshops, conferences have also been cancelled. Social gatherings and assemblies like religious functions, marriage receptions, parties etc. are to be regulated by local authorities.
An amount of Rs 200 Crore has been earmarked to deal with the outbreak.
