New Delhi: As many as 157 laboratories including both government and private labs are gearing up to conduct testing for Coronavirus (COVID-19), according to the reports.
Of the 157 labs, 121 are government laboratories approved by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for conducting tests for COVID-19. However, only 109 are currently operational while 12 laboratories are in the process of being operationalised.
Apart from this, there are 35 private labs across the country for conducting these tests.
A total of 27,688 samples from 26,798 individuals have been tested for SARS-CoV2 as on March 27. A total of 691 persons have been confirmed positive among suspected cases and contacts of known positive cases, as per the ICMR.
