COVID-19: BMC Issues Fresh Advisory, Urges People to Wear Mask in Public Places

Bhubaneswar: In view of sudden rise in the COVID-19 positive cases, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a fresh advisory to contain spread of the virus in the city.

In an order, BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange said that all citizens residing within BMC area as well as outside citizens coming to the city should wear mask appropriately while moving out and while in public places
There has been a sudden increase in number of newly detected COVID-19 positive cases within BMC area in the last few days which requires caution among the citizens of BMC, he said.

The BMC has urged the citizens to maintain social distancing of 2 meters among themselves at all times while in public places.

All malls, shop and store owners should ensure social distancing about 2 meters within their premises. The responsibility of maintenance of social distancing lies with the owner of the premises, the BMC said.

“Citizens are advised to maintain hand hygiene frequently and observe appropriate coughing/sneezing etiquette at all times. They are also advised to refrain from spitting in public places”, it said.

The CEO/Managers/Head of the offices of Govt as well as Private offices shall ensure that their employees are observing COVID appropriate behaviour in their office premises, the civic body added.
