Bhubaneswar: Soon after revealing details about 5th positive COVID-19 patient, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sealed off Surya Nagar in the city.
Addressing a presser, BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary on Thursday announced that the patient was traced to the area who had no domestic or international travel history.
The Surya Nagar area has been sealed off and the area will be sanitized. The basic amenities will be ensured and essential services will not be affected, he said.
Meanwhile, Gopabandhu Square to LIC square, LIC square to Ganga Nagar Square, Ganga Nagar to Siripur Chhak and Siripur to Gopabandhu Chhak were notified as restricted zones.
The BMC said the areas will be sanitized and added that the supply of essential items will be ensured.
Health teams will visit households in the area to ascertain to find out if any person has any flu-like symptoms.
The BMC Commissioner said the fifth COVID-19 positive patient is Pradipta Kumar Dalabehera, a resident of ward no 46, Surya Nagar, Bhubaneswar.
His identity has been revealed with an intention to safeguard the public who have come in contact with him since March 1, 2020.
The BMC commissioner also advised the people, who been in contact with the coronavirus positive patient, to keep themselves to home quarantine forthwith for 14 days from the date of contact and inform/register about such quarantine in the health helpline No-104.
